Because we will need to program our app using Java and because not everyone is familiar with Java (which is totally okay!), I have compiled a list of sources that may be helpful in trying to learn the language. Whether you've never even heard of Java, or if you just need to brush up, take a look at these helpful links. We will start our Java tutorial soon at some of our upcoming meetings.
We have uploaded the slideshow for Gerald Jackson's Presentation onto the site. Click Here to view the presentation.
Due to Homecoming activities, our first after-school meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 28th immediately after school. At this meeting, guest speaker Gerald Jackson will present "Computer Science: What It Is, What It Does, and What It's Good For." Whether a computer novice or a computer expert, Mr. Jackson's presentation has something for everyone. A tentative schedule for the building of our annual project, the Dreher High School app, will also be distributed. I hope to see everyone in Mr. Hamrick's room at 3:30 on October 28th!
We will be having our first after-school meeting on Thursday October 23rd until approximately 4:30 pm. I encourage all members to attend. We will be hearing from a guest speaker whose presentation will provide a broad introduction to computer science as a field of study. The meeting will be in Mr. Hamrick's room (the room we met in for clubs) immediately after school.
Mr. Hamrick make an especially awesome suvey that gives members the chance to tell DHS Comp Sci what you think. It will only take a minute of your time, and it will help the club decide what our annual project might be, when we might meet, and the things we might do throughout the year. This is your chance to give your input! Click on the link to access the survey.
Hello, and thank you for your interest in the newly-founded Dreher Computer Science Club! The goal of this club is to expose the student body and club members to the vast opportunities a career in computer science can offer and to allow students to experiment building various types of technology while utilizing and developing skills in the field. Please refer to the Mission page for more information about the club and its endeavors. Members, please take a moment to browse the website, as it will be an integral tool for the club.
